Caye caulker

Long travel day but everything worked out beautiful for me. I woke up and decided not to take the first bus but to relax and have a big breakfast. Then I walked to the bus station and thought there wasn't another bus for an hour nut one was leaving in a few minutes. Then after a four hour bus ride I arrived in chetumal where I wakes to the ferry and caught the ferry and only had to wait about an hour but was talking to others heading to the same island. there are two ferry boats and the first one that asks wanted to charge me Doyle what the send one asked and the cheaper one has priority at immigration so we got to leave and arrive first even though they technically leave at the same time.
So I arrived this morning at the bus station at 930 and arrived here around 730 in the evening or 630 with the time change.
Caye caulker is really nice though is covered with backpackers. It is also another island with sand roads and only golf carts no cars. Very small and easy to walk around. Planning on diving tomorrow.

Cenotes

Today went diving in a fesh water cenote. The visibility was so clear. It was quite nice. Then went to yak a swim in another cenote that we could bike to from where we are staying. It if refreshing and so nice to come out of the water and not be sticky from salt. It has been raining and has cooled down. I hope it stays like thi as it's been sweltering hot. Stance coincidence I arrived at my hostel and found it I was rooming with 3 Koreans from Canada. Then today another girl arrived in our room and she is also Korean from california. We have an all Korean room! I think in my travels I have only met only one other traveller who is Korean before now. I decided to do another dive tomorrow then will stay jere one more night and head down to Belize for some more diving. One of the best things about this hostel is they provide a. Really good make it yourself breakfast. They put out eggs and veggies and tortillas and cereal etc. I made a stir fry veggies tortilla this morning

Tulum

Biked from tulum city to tulum ruin which are ruins right on the water with a beach for swimming inside the historical site. Very beautiful but I think I am losing weight from sweating so much.
It's great to be back here. In Boston we are too busy and too I
Important and have too many friends but our normal greetings consist of "piss off jerk" etc but here they have attitude also but different. After ripping you off by charging too much for something they then feel free to tell you you are pretty and ask you to go dancing. In Boston at least we are honest ;) I somehow ended up in a room with 3 other Koreans. It's just the 4 of us.

Whale sharks

Ha wonderful day snorkeling with whale sharks and giant mantas and saw a small nurse shark sleeping. Also saw a few dolphins. Whale sharks are beautiful and the largest was probably sound 11m long. I was too close to take any good pics. A wonderful day on the ocean. It's definitely the end of the season as we only saw a group of 4 and alot of solo ones but it was still amazing.
I am sitting here writing this while someone next to me is eating a bi bag of cape cod potato chips.

Cancun and cozumel and now isla holbox

I arrived last week and spent a day walking around playa del Carmen. It's pretty developped and quite a party town but I wasn't impressed. So I took the ferry to Cozumel and stayed at a really nice cheap place with a pool! I did a few dives which were really nice! Although I am partial to Bonaire still. And its quite overrun with tour ships. Then I heard there were whale sharks so I decided to change plans and go on up to isla holbox. It's a really chill island not very developed with beautiful sand roads and no cars only golf carts. All the places I have been to have been very nice And I really like this place although it's the first place without AC and it's quite hot here but I survived Ecuador just fine without AC most of the trip. So far the best meals were a taco that came with a dish a melted cheese. I am not sure how I was supposed to eat it but I spooned the cheese onto the tortilla. I also had some hot out of the oven corn bread with nice full kernels of corn (ok yes I went back twice) and also had what looked like a turnover with a cheese and tomato filling. It was good but a bit stance basically a turnover with pizza filling and they sprinkled sugar on the top. Other than the sugar it was good. Well I am going on a snorkel tomorrow I am excited about so I hoPe it's good. So far I have been very impressed with the places I have stayed. I will head south after I am done here to go to tulum then back to Belize so far one of my favorite countries. Then hopefully after Belize I will start to spend less. Diving is an expensive sport so I will do a dive in tulum and a few in Belize then hopefully not too many until maybe costa rica.
It's also nice that I have had wifi everywhere I stayed ok it hasn't always worked well but it's still nice.
I started the trip off grumpy cause for the first time in a long time I overpacked. But I need to focus on the positive and try to get as much out of this time as I can.

San Diego - July 2-5

July 2 - Country Fair in San Diego - Walked around and tried lots of food as this fair is famous for its food.

July 3rd.  Went to Jimbos Natural food store and tried a bunch of items from their very large bulk dried foods section.

July 4 - went surfing at mission beach. Tons of surf schools and surfboard rental places along mission beach and an area dedicated for just surfers made it great for beginners as well as consistent small waves.  Lifeguards on jetskis are also patrolling the area to enforce the no swimming and surfing only zones.  On July 4 they ban surf lessons but surfboards are still available for rental. Went to watch the fireworks!
